Anyone have any experience doing this. One of the choke rods that connects from the upper intake manifold to the 2 bbl carburetor on my 318 snapped. I'm thinking of just dumping the mechanical choke and going with an electric one.

Anyone have any tips or thoughts on if its the right way to go?

If you figure out how to accomplish this, and make it work correctly, let me know, I have a few older 4bbl I'd like to convert to electric choke. Gene

Aren't all factory electric choke? That's what's bolted to the intake

The one he is wanting to covert uses a bi-metallic spring, that mounts into a well on the intake.

The rod connected to the spring moves the choke as the engine heats up.

They sometimes do have some sort of an electrical connection hooked to them, but I have never really followed that wire to see what it does.
