Excuse the hi-jack here, but Tav and I in another thread were interested in seeing the two correct routings of the heater cable for '70 E Body with A/C - from control switch to heater/water valve. There were two locations of exit from the firewall - one near the column, the other near/below the blower motor.

From what I can tell, pics of 383/440 A/C engine bays posted here that have the cable exit near the column, they were power brake booster equipped & possibly '71's? On Dave Walden's Challenger (manual brake) - cable exits under the blower motor.

My '70 Ebody is manual brakes and NO exit hole was drilled in the firewall near the column.

Also, my heater box has a small rubber insulated bracket on the LH side, & may be used to guide the cable - & the lower heater box screws each have black plastic 'guards/caps' protecting their threads, as if the cable is run under the box's bottom area and out the firewall. Looking at the inner fiewall column support brackets, there are two holes that look perfect to slide the cable through and down under the box. One of those holes is used for the signal flasher's retainer, I think, so the flasher would need to be relocated elsewhere in that case?

I'm listening... especially interested in more info on the cable exiting under the box. Pics? I believe my August 69 build 318 manual brake challenger came this way. Pics anyone? my cable was missing (along with the compressor and hoses) when I got the car.

Also wondering if this different routing required a different cable length?

Tav
