Hey guys! I have a few questions my friend has a 1968 Charger R/T hes working on. When he got the car it came with a 70 dash. my question is will it work? what do we have to change ( lower dash panel, ignition switch ect ect)I know he really needs an R/T 68 dash to be 100% correct but he just wants it to work/ driver.

2) Whats a 70 Dash really worth in the real world?
3) Anyone got a 68/69 dash they might want to swap or sell?

Thanks in advanced!

It'll pretty much work, but you will have no flasher/emergency switch. In the '68, it was in the instrument cluster under the dimmer switch. Not sure what it is worth, but it will definitely be worth more than a '68/69... I doubt you will find a situation where you can get a complete swap, but best of luck in trying. You definitely should be able to sell it and then come up with the funds to get yourself a '68/'69 Rallye/Charger dash. That '70 looks to be in pretty nice original condition to be honest. Also, was the VIN transferred from the original dash to this '70?

I would throw this picture in the for sale section or trade and see what happens...

Cheers,

what he said, I'd try and sell that complete and buy the correct dash. I think some of the harness is going to be different as well. In 70 the ingnition switch is in the column. I'm guessing that dash is from an S/E???

Or some unfortunate R/T...... All Charger R/T's in '70 had woodgrain dashes...

The only thing I might question is the light switch. The '70 has a electrical headlamp motor, so the circuit for that is in the headlamp portion of the dash harness. The '70 Dash switch doesn't have the provision for the vacuum switch either ( unless it is from a Superbird )...

The gauge connection on the printed circuit board is the same. Also, is the wiper switch in the '70 dash a 3-speed or 2-speed switch? Is the wiper motor in the car a 2speed or 3speed? Washer switch will be the same along with the dimmer switch. The 2 radio plugs ( speaker & power/light ) should be the same........ The heater and/or a/c switch panel will probably be different too...... If it is non-a/c, should be a problem...

Each year dash frame '68 - '69 - '70 is different, ignition switch mounting is the biggest difference '68 vs. '69.

'68 dash is Charger, Super Bee, & Coronet R/T w/gauges ONLY.
'70 wood grain dash shown is Charger R/T and/or SE, Super Bee, Coronet R/T w/gauges, & GTX ONLY (dash frame and gauges also used in Road Runner/Charger - no wood grain panels).

Thanks guys for all the answers! I just really wanted a few opinions to show him I wasn't crazy for wanting to find a whole new dash. The Vin number is still on the dash from the 70 charger. You'll probably see it on here soon for sale!

How much different is a dash frame from a 68 to a 69? I had a rallye frame from a 69 super bee until the Joplin tornado made it unusable and I need to find a replacement. Does it have to be a 69 for everything to work correctly?
