Had TTIs and was a bear for the linkage clearance. Any better headers or a opinion on a shorty header setup??? Going to build a 490-ish stroker with EB heads. Running a 6-pak setup too.
Any thoughts?

I just installed Hedman headers and had/have 0 issues with 4-spd linkage clearance. I did have to dimple the tube next to the power steering pump though. I have a 440 in an E-Body...

Thanks for the response.

I'm going in a '71 RR, so they should be close to the same as far as the engine compartment and K-frame room. How about the flange? Is it thicker like the TTI's? Do you have a model number?

Thanks!!!

I don't care how much they cost..Ive put headers on a hundred cars and have NEVER seen quality and solid construction like I have seen with a full TTI system...Im sold for life.

I just fitted Doug's 2" headers to my stroker. They fit like a glove, no dings required and it's an 18 spline 4 speed with an 11" clutch.

I did the same, except I put in my Doug's 2"ers in the spring of 2011. One tube bumped the passenger side shock tower and has by now self-clearanced, no other issues with the same setup as Mick. I used a fiber gasket, cranked it tight one time and have never had to re-tighten or have to try and seal them.

Are you hinting that you'll be driving the '71 soon?

dstryr, since 1986.

I'm running 1 7/8" TTI's on an Ed head lowdeck with 5 speed. Clearance was fine with no clutch linkage (hydraulic which I like). I believe TTI provides Z bar modification instructions with a mechanical clutch linkage.

Hey Frank!!! What's shakin'?

Yep, finally got the bug to get the 'ol horse back on the road. Putting it back together this fall/winter with the intentions of enjoying it in 2014. Heck!!! It's been apart since 2004!!!
