going to start on my demon resto in a few weeks and just wondering if me buying a rotisserie would be a good plan. other than working on the underside is it worth it?

Just depends on how far you are going with the restore. If you are going all out full strip down and start over it makes working on the much easier. If replacing body panels it make it way easier. I think we had the Cuda on a rotisserie for about 4 years, makes doing floors and wheel wells way easier.

Yea I agree, I don't think it's even possible to do the underside of the car to a high degree of detail without using one. If it is the person who could do so would have a much better back and pair of eyeballs than I have. It makes the job WAY easier!

Question; how much driving do you intend to do with the car?

There is no doubt that a rotisserie will improve the quality of the bottom of the car a lot. But it does bring a dilemma, at least it did for me.

The bottom of the car then looks so good, it is hard to drive it much. One small water puddle makes for a long clean up. Whenever I wanted to drive the car, it was always too dry (dusty) or too wet or the possibility of precip.

After all the work I did to the bottom of the car, I couldn't stand the thought of dirtying it up. Or how long it would take to clean it back up.

Now if the Demon will be a Trailer Queen, then it's a different matter.

Master, again and still

Having a rotisserie doesn't force you to build a trailer queen, but it certainly allows you better access to do a better job.

I bought mine mainly due to a back surgery 15 years ago (and it still speaks to me when I do to much or the wrong thing). Bought a Whirley Jig and I have to say it was a God send. Saved my back during panel replacement, block sanding, brake and fuel lines and even front suspension removal and assembly.

I have it rented to another gent I know with a bad back at the moment. If you know someone with one, maybe renting it would be an option.

I have a thought on that one too, and I do plan on driving mine....A LOT! My take on the clean thing is simple, dirt over a correctly restored underside is STILL better than dirt over a sloppy job. I plan to maintain mine as much as possible and don't plan on driving it in wet weather, but if I do get caught on the rain or on a dirt road I'll take the time to clean it as good as possible, it won't be that often so not a huge deal. One thing that's helpful is to finish the underside components with weather resistant coatings. Mine had been stripped to metal, sprayed with DP90 Epoxy to seal it all up, then painted with a custom mix to mimic the original dip coating. So, while it appears correct, It's not primer, it's paint that mimics primer so it's far easier to clean and will hold up much better than the thin coat of factory dip coating. All of the bare metal parts are treated with ECS's RPM product to keep them looking new as well.

I have a better idea; why don't you just borrow mine?

It definitely makes things a lot easier... so much easier to do body work with the car rotated up to get the lower areas. Same with the roof and so on. I use mine on almost every car I have stripped to a bare shell. I wouldn't even consider doing a full resto without one.
