Hey guys,

I have a manual steering box out of either a 70 duster or 71 demon that will be installed in a current project.  Is there any rebuild kits offered for these?  Is it a simple process?  If not are there any places to send it to be rebuilt?

Thanks in advance,
Brian

Firm Feel used to offer a rebuild kit for them, don't know if it's still available. It's a messy job, but not all that complicated. I advise doing it in a tray so that you don't lose any of the sector shaft needle bearings as they are NOT part of the rebuild kit. Set worm gear preload first then the sector shaft. Sector shaft must be on the high spot [ middle of travel ] when setting preload.

You got a rebuild kit from them?

They say there are no such thing as a stupid question.
They say there is always the exception that proves the rule.
Don't be the exception.

Thanks for the advice, I looked on their site and saw pricfes for rebuild kits but have yet to try and contact them.

"FFI Rebuild

MSB1.......$329

Steering Core Charge

MSC........$200

Rebuild Kits

MSBK1.......$50
MSBK2......$100
*MSBK3.....$200*

(*Plus $50 Worm Gear Core)
MSBKC.......$50

Pot Connector Kit
PK0.........$25"

I inspected the box the other day and when simulating a turn and spinning the gears there is a definite rough spot. I still have yet to open it up because I am trying to figure out my options.

Thanks,
Brian
