Hi guys, just wondering if any of you that run some type of aftermarket efi notice hanging rpm's when revving the car up?
I only have experience with my 2001 ram, and i hate that coasting, hanging engine speed when letting off the throttle. Just wondering if I retrofit efi onto my old car, will it do the same thing?
Thanks for any info.

I would bet it is more a bad tps in your ram then the efi setup.

I already had to replace the one off the engine from a 2000 durango.
it would hold open at 2k rpm even with my foot off the pedal.
had to shut off the car and restart to get it to reset till I replaced it.

No. The "hanging" has nothing to do with aftermarket EFI.
Most systems offer a feature which holds the IAC open on a quick throttle release just so the engine doesn't stumble, but this is an adjustable feature which can be turned totally off. A bad TPS can do this too.

The "hang" is an emmisions thing on most OEM stuff. As Rich said it can be set from zero to whatever with the IAC on aftermarket EFI.

I've got the FAST system and I adjusted mine so it doesn't stumble or stall but is not noticeable in normal driving.

Can anything be done about it for fac efi? Im running a mag w/factory efi in my 48 and love everything about it except the way throttle "hangs" forever it seems.

Yes, this can be programmed out, but you have to find someone who has the software and the expertise to do it. Find out who the ECU manufacturer is, many were AEM. If its an AEM unit you should be able to find someone close to you.
