ok find my shorting problem, starter wire was grounding out on the tranny line's but now I am having a fuel problem, removed the old pump thinking maybe that was it an bought a new 1, nothing.. so I unhooked the fuel line at the pump that run's to the tank an hooked up a gas can, STILL AINT SUCKING!! what am I missing???

The pump pushrod may be worn down (BB). Might need to pull/measure it. First I'd put 2ft of hose & a funnel on the input side & with the hose up in the air pour some gas in the hose to prime the pump

the block is a 74 318, I tried the ol jar an some hose, im thinking maybe electric pump would do for now .. im not sure what the guy has done to the motor, I know a tbi cam will not work with a mechanical pump with out a spacer correct??

Correct, but if there is a TBI cam in there you'd think the PO would have for sure bought/installed the Hughes extension before bolting on the timing cover.

Did you verify that you have a fuel pump excentric in there??
