does anyone have a source or a sugggestion for some appropriate tubing or conduit that will rethread with a 1/2" NPT die? A Lowes or Menards or similar part number would be great. Thank you for your time

You should use black pipe, nut conduit or tubing That is if your talking about a 1/2 inch oil pickup in the motor, if your talking about a gas tank pick up that is different If that is the case I would use soft drawn alumimun to run to the front

Yup. The cheapest pipe in the hardware store. Threads are standard for plumbing, 1/2" NPT.

I'll see what my favorite Ace hardware has in them. Taking advantage of my oiling mods & drilled the SB pump out to 1/2" NPT

On that deal I would look around for some DOM tubing and be ready to bend and tap it to fit No black pipe screwed into the oil pump To much vibrations and weight for me

That's what I was worried about. Cab do you have a suggestion/part #/company for me to check out for some DOM tubing? EDIT I need a dia of tubing that can be threaded with a 1/2"NPT die I pruchased. I have a 1/2 Hemi pickup with several inches of nipple left after I cut it off & I was able to thread it some but after a few threads it seemed like the OD was on the edge of being too large as it was taking more torque to turn than I was comfortable with. That's where I am at so far.

someone correct me if I am wrong but NPT threads have a slight "cone" to them? Meaning as you move the die further onto what you are threading it will be cutting deeper and require more torque and effort, then threaded in the cone creates a kind of interference fit? Are you using a lubricating cutting fluid as you turn the die? I've also found it goes easier if you back the die up a half turn or so frequently to keep it clean and reduce burs.

Yes they have a cone & I was using lubricating fluid & backing off after each twist

FWIW, the Hemi pick-up does not have NPT. It is a straight pipe thread.

Let the begin.

That would certainly explaing why I am having so much difficulty with this. The OD of the Hemi tube is too big for the NPT 1/2" NPT die. EDIT Right now I have the pump tapped for 1/2" NPT & a Hemi screen with several inches of nipple on it & I was able to get several (NPT) threads cut on the nipple with the die before it got too tight.
