I just saw a pic of Chuck's White mustang from Street Outlaws and he has his carb sitting sideways on the intake. Ive never seen this, is it normal??? Anyone else do this??
Someone said that he does that so the secondaries wont lean out on hard launching.

It is something to talk about.
But if it was the latest and greatest , I have to think you'd see it a lot more.
Lots of ways to cure secondary lean out on launch.......this isn't one I'd consider I guess.

Seems to me you're trading one problem for another. With it mounted sideways, now you'll uncover the forward jets on both the primary and seconday sides. With the carb mounted normally, jet extensions on the secondaries eliminate this problem.

I've seen guys putting carb'd motors in '93-up GM F bodies (camaro/firebird) turn the carb sideways b/c it sits underneath the windshield partially. I understand when it's a packaging issue, but on a mustang this isn't a problem.

And with it sideways, now the jet extensions arent going to work.

I use to run the carbs sideways on my tunnel ram..
I made up jet extension for all the jets(had a 90*
bend in each and went to the back(what is now the back)
so none of the jets become uncovered... I slid the
tubes into the cheapo press on jet extensions that
I cut shorter... with the carbs sideways it was easier
to do jet changes

use wedge floats and pump up the pressure. I'm not sure the carb builder but that is how he wants you to run his carbs

Yes the carb builder can set it up for sideways use,it is a little different,
I run mine sideways, I run alcohol, There are more reasons to run it that way than the obvious ones!
Pressure on my carb Run at 7.5 # per bowl, I use a 5/8 headed bolt to set my floats,(if needed),

FWIW most carbs I have seen mounted sideways in a single 4 application were done for clearance issues. IE don't wanna cut up cowls etc..Not rocket science to make a sideways carb work just need to know that is what is being done. As for fuel pressure I would say that most you guys run WAY to much......

I have seen a lot of guys running a single carb on Alcohol run the carb this way. I am going to try it on my own engine, but it's more because most people don't.

I have plenty of room,I run it because # 1, my car faster that way, ,
Looks better,,easier to work on.

My alcohol carb was set up to run sideways and it had no sort of jet extension. It would leave with the wheels 4 feet in the air with no issues.

Before they closed their machine shop, some Big time Mopar racers from Norcross then Atlanta Ga mounted all of theirs and their customers side-ways they said it was worth 20-25 hp on the dyno.If I run a single carb. I would fab. up a linkage and give it a try, that would be a cheap 20-25 hp!

That sounds close if the carbs are correctly set up to run that way .
i have 1 carb set to run straight, the other set to run sideways, I pick up almost a tenth between them.
I can't say that everyone can it does depend on intake and other items

My car is running B1 heads on it now, but either way, I had no room to mount the carb straight. Plus it is on methanol , I just switched back to leaded race fuel.
