I haven't run a sb in over 30 years. The cam is a Blue Racer/Wolverine made in Michigan cam.

I am making a switch to a 8.5 compression 360 with good MCH sb eddy heads, air gap intake. I have a new 800 cfm Thermoquad, A500 trans, 3.23/3.55/or 4.10 (I have choice) in what I hope will be a 3550 lb or less '74 Challenger. I think this cam likes a little bit of nitrous, or boost as well.

The cam is a solid mechanical .503 intake, .525 exhaust with lobe centers 103 intake, 113 exhaust, .050 timing BTC 21, ABC 47, BBC 52, ATC 16, duration 248 intake, 258 exhaust.

The advertised duration is 310 intake, 320 exhaust/timing BTC 49, ABC 81, BBC 90, ATC 50.

I won't be dragging this car often but driving it more. Is it too much of a dog on the bottom end, compared to another cam choice. It seems like a better choice for more compression, gearing and converter. I tried to compare it to a Hughes whiplash and feel that it outperforms the Hughes cam. I would like to take advantage of the heads full potential.

This engine is a stepping stone to a turbo build in a few years. The turbo build will also be somewhat mild compared to what most would build. The turbo base will be a new short block that is built for boost.

Mpg while cruising would be nice with some good pulling power when needed.

Based on what you told me about your combination,I don't think you'll be happy with that cam. The low compression360 I have here was tested with two solid lifter cams,one being very similar to yours but with more lift.
It was a Crane690911. Faster more aggressive ramps with the same duration@ .050 108 lobe separation . Even advancing it to 102 installed it was a turf below 3500 rpm. I'm sure some compression would have helped,it just had no cylinder pressure to make any steam.
