the one from summit works fine, there is an art to it. practice a few times
I got one from an Army mechanic over yonder and I have to believe it was a good one.....expensive one at any rate. But it took me a few tries to get " good " with it. With practice , it becomes a lot easier.

Mine is a Blue Point I got from the SnapOn guy.Its probally 30 years old and made thousands of flares. The Rigid is a nice piece. My kid bought a Summit one because it was on clearance at under 10 bucks. It works great for him.As Mr P said they have to be tight or the tube will just move out the other end.Rocky

I will tell you also that you can make hose beads with the flairing kit... put the tube in to the length as if your doing a flair .. using the double flair button turn it down 1 1/2 turns and you have a hose bead ![](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wave.gif)

For some reason that brake line with the dark coating like you have is a real hassle to flare. If you can find the silver line instead, it's way easier to flare (NAPA).
That coating is epoxy which most companies are going with ![](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wave.gif)

i find the poly coated lines much easier to cut, bend, and flare than the standard galvanized line.

I have the eastwood one with the turret head, saddle clamp and the long handle. Time/hassle it has saved was worth every penny of the cost.
