I got one from an Army mechanic over yonder and I have to believe it was a good one.....expensive one at any rate.
But it took me a few tries to get " good " with it.
With practice , it becomes a lot easier.

Are you tightening it down with the handle on the
flairing part.... I made more than 10,000 flairs with
the Imperial over the years at work... doing both fuel
and brake lines.. it has to be tight... bottom out
the holding jaws or you just scraped your tube if
you measured right... once you rip the tube through
the jaws it rarely bites on it again
EDIT
Also use the leverage of the bar.. if your tube is nearer
to one end .. tighten that up as much as you can then
use the long side to tighten it up tight

Mine is a Blue Point I got from the SnapOn guy.Its probally 30 years old and made thousands of flares. The Rigid is a nice piece. My kid bought a Summit one because it was on clearance at under 10 bucks. It works great for him.As Mr P said they have to be tight or the tube will just move out the other end.Rocky

I will tell you also that you can make hose beads with
the flairing kit... put the tube in to the length as
if your doing a flair .. using the double flair button
turn it down 1 1/2 turns and you have a hose bead

For some reason that brake line with the dark coating like you have is a real hassle to flare. If you can find the silver line instead, it's way easier to flare (NAPA).

That coating is epoxy which most companies are going with

I have the eastwood one with the turret head, saddle clamp and the long handle. Time/hassle it has saved was worth every penny of the cost.

i find the poly coated lines much easier to cut, bend, and flare than the standard galvanized line.
