Is the wire going from the distributor to the coil a special type of wire ? I got a bare spot and the wire it stiff from heat. Like to replace it.

it's ok to butt heads, just don't do it with a butthead

It should be consistent and soft, like the others(hopefully). Ohm it and make sure it ohms as the others do. Ignition wires can go bad from the outside in, or inside out. If it is crunchy on the inside, the spark was jumping a gap, and burning everything from the inside out.

Should have made myself more clear on which wire. It's the small wire, maybe 18 gage wire, the one coming out from inside the distributor to the coil.

It's just a piece of wire , GM used a resistor wire.

single points type wire or electronic pair ?

It on a older GM like 1963 single point distributor. Resister wire? Will have to look that up.

Yes resistor wire , they used that instead of a ballast resistor.

Easy way to tell , put an ohm meter on it .

From what I can find , all the info talks about the wire coming from the firewall/switch being a resistor wire thats going to the positive side of the coil. Nothing noted on the wire going from the negative side to the points in the distributor.
