I need axles for a dana 60 but it looks like it has 30 splines. Is this common? I am not sure what it is out of but its going in a scamp with a 440 and a 4 speed that should run low 11's or high 10's.
Are these axles going to hold up?

I don't know what application had 30 spline axles , 69 was a 23 spline , 70 went to 35 spline .

Lots of truck applications had 30-spline axles. I wouldn't use them in a car with a clutch and slicks.

What is different about the truck vs. the 30 spline in an 8.75 ?

Stick shift and 30 stock type 30 spline axles equals future breakage Been there, done that, even a hard leaving automatic car will break the 30 spline ends off in the splines of the spool or posi

I've never seen them in a Ford 3/4 ton Dana 60, the first one I saw was in Dana 60 out of a 1969 or 1970 3/4 ton Chevy or GMC pickup The last set of 30 spline axles I saw was in a late model(1970 or later) Dana 60 HD out of a Dodge or Ford ( CRS, ) class C motorthome chassis

I recommend swapping the 30 spline internals for the 35 spline version.

The end of the axles are different All kidding aside 8 3/4 axles will fit the 30 spline posi perfectly if your cutting a truck Dana down to fit in a B body As far as using stock 8 3/4 axles in a 4 speed OP, buy the 35 spline conversion kit from Cass at Dr Diff and make that posi a 35 spline,a new set of axles are needed anyways so buy the best size That will be money well spent

Here's a pic of the truck Dana 60 carrier with a 30-spline Mopar axle inserted. Note the thin clutch pack outboard of the side gear.

Your pic is of the weakest of the OEM limited slip carriers. I smoked the clutches in mine on street tires. The Dana 60 30 spline that I built for my Polara came from an International Travelall. For serious abuse step up to the 35 spline axles and the PowerLock carrier for street or a spool for the strip. Forget the TracLoc.
