got the driprail/roof skin/pinchweld all tied back together by patching in a piecs and bending it so as to make the drip rail front edge.

got it welded up. did some grinding to smooth it,fingerd in some all metal to seal and fill it up good.

i think this will be better than any body sealer, it wont shrink and should seal the front pinch weld above and behind the top of window gasket.

this is where most of the rust/leaks come from on the roof IMHO.

not perfect but pretty good for a patch up before windshield goes back in.

now just hit it in the AM to smooth the all metal out some and it ready to patch up the roof skin across the front edge and fix a hole on the driver side top corner.

welds are almost ready to fill in with all metal.

trimed the driprail, so it has a front edge that lines up with the solid parts of the driprail that were not removed.

Hey Scratch,
Are those panels any diff to weld on than the older automotive metals used back before 1980 or so? I thought I read that it is more difficult to weld on newer steel? What gauge metal mostly are you working with? What kind of welder?

got some more work done on the roof line today, very slow 1 day a weekend for progress. but the big hurdle is over, a little hand rubbing and it is ready for the gasket/glass.

pated up the holes left after sanding/grinding the rtv and rust out along the roof line/driprail.

finished filling it with all metal, last patch welded in the driprail edge.

trim long patches and stitch welded them across the front roof line. beded them in with all metal, needs some hand rubbing to smooth it out with some filler for a finished look.
