I have a set of Metro RR 4001-B roof rail seals for my Dart. Actually, I have 2 sets just to be sure that one wasn't mis-boxed.
I have a number of fitment issues that I hope someone can help me with.
But let me start by asking if there is any other source for this weatherstripping? This Metro piece will be a pain to make work, IF I can make it work at all.
Any and all help would be appreciated.
Thanks!

Is that the stick on foam that fits under the drip rail chrome?

Nope, it is the rubber under the stainless. The window glass actually seals against it.

The problems with these weatherstrips does not seem to be a production problem, they just seem to be wrong. Period.
Do I understand you to say that they make the right ones for my Dart?

Still don't know where the problem(s) lies. Wrong in what sense? Are we supposed to guess?

I am dealing with Metro directly now, as there does not seem to be an alternative. And everybody that had responded to my post have said the same thing; they just do not fit. So the specifics for the uninitiated seem irrelevant but here goes;
The front section from the peak of the vent window down is at least 2" too long. The Metro moulding is at least twice too thick at the top corner of the vent glass. The lip that seals to the glass of both the door and the quarter glass is too long and maybe too thick too.
There may be more issues, but I can't get past these to find out.
Metro says that they have not heard of any issues with these particular seals. Other posters on here say otherwise. Metro also said that they have other extrusions that they can try to get closer to the dimensions that I need. We'll see.
I am going to send them some pics of what is left of my original pieces next to their replacement pieces so we can see if they can get something that fits.
Metro said that they have made these for over 20 years and have not had any complaints. The issue must be with the peculiarities of my particular car. I have looked at dozens of these Darts and I haven't seen one yet that could tolerate the extra 2" of length or extra thickness at the top of the vent glass.
The Metro weatherstrip just will not fit as supplied.

This is part of the E-mail I sent to Metro after talking to them. I was surprised at just how different the new ones were. The first photo shows that the A pillar section is too long. It is actually even longer installed than the photos indicate. Also note the differences in the way the end of the seals are made and their thicknesses. The new ones are so thick and long that they actually won't let the door close. This shows the extreme difference in thicknesses between a couple of original strips and the new Metro piece at the top of the vent glass. The new piece is so thick that the vent frame hits it and tries to compress it rather than slide under it like the originals. The top lips here are what the door and quarter glasses seal to. Once again, the difference is huge. The new ones want to hold the glass out at the top, they are so thick and/or long. On the originals, the glass slides under the rubber easily rather than run into it and try to smash it like the new ones. This end shot shows just how different the new seals are from the originals. The old seals still fit and seal the vent frame and glasses pretty well, they were just too rough looking for this project.
