My '01 had what appeared to be some kind of catalytic convertor or resonator before the muffler-I'd just cut that thing out if I were you. I don't think it has any real purpose on the Cummins exhaust system. Who has the best deal out there for this? Too easy: For free just go behind any exhaust shop or new car dealership and pull a brand new system out of the "scrap metal" dumpster that some Meathead insisted on taking off his new diesel and believes will get 5 more hp out of an aftermarket system. The Turbo does all the work and makes all the power on any diesel engine, not the muffler. If you don't believe me, research it. Stick with a stock system on these trucks.
