Lately Ive been looking at some Mr Norm cars for sale. Most of the ones Ive been looking at do not come with a build sheet. Alot of the GSD paperwork was collected at the time of the sale and has been packaged up at the dealer. Was it a common practice for Grand Spaulding Dodge to remove the build sheets from the cars? Does anyone have any information on this?

I don't think they removed them from the cars because I have mine as well as a few other of Mr Norms cars that I know about. If they did remove them I'm sure they would have kept it with the other paperwork. You can check with Mr Norm himself at mrnorm1013@aol.com
He will answer your email although he's probably at Carlisle through the weekend.

Had a 71 or 72 duster cant recall which but was a Mr.norm car...340 with thermo 800 cfm...3.55 gears,auto..hemi orange white stripes...was a one family owned car ,son was in service and ordered it and mother wound up with it and sat many years had 69k when I got it...seemed to run too good so I took it to the track, after owning several stocker 340's in the past this one for some unknown reason ran like a bat outta hell and i couldnt figure out why it ran so hard as it appeared to be all stock with factory exhausts and thermoquad,so off I go to the test and tune on a friday nite in factory stock form pump gas 60 series tires and thru factory exhausts and after many passes I couldnt get it to hook up very good it still ran a best of 13.34 smoking the tires all the way down the track..needless to say I was suprised and compared to the other 340 darts/demons I had owned previously,I did not know about Mr. Norm at that time...so I run the crap outta it for the next yr and eventually parked it due to a cracked ring in # 7 and smoking and a yr later having dismantled it[motor] lost interest and put it up for sale for 1200 bucs as is hoping to get 800 for it at the time[1987]..so this old man from KS CITY calls me up and asks for the fendertag codes and I read them off to him at 3 in the pm and at 7 pm he's in my yard with a trk and trailer with cash and a hard-on...so we load the car and right before he drives away he asks me if I knew about grand spalding dodge Mr. Norm cars, I replied that I did not so he starts telling me about it...still not grasping the enormanity of said car I went on about my life and my brother calls me up one day a year later[he knew this old man and also lived in KSC]wanting me to come chk out my old car so I drive up to KSC and in a warehouse along with 30 other cars[all mopar of course] sat a beautifully restored 77,000 mile Mr.Norm car that I 'used to own' as to by this time I knew what they were all about....for when I got it and sold it, it had the original paperwork and window sticker etc...and when I asked the old man what it was worth thinking I might try to buy it back He said he turned down 10 times what I offered, so I drove home feeling like someone kicked me in the balls sick for a few days but at least I have the comfort of knowing that car survived and is still existing in its original intended condition....if I had only Known back then....

When these new cars arrived at the dealership they were littered with paperwork inside the cars and trunk. Lots of broadcast sheets and other inspection forms etc. Some broadcast sheets were for the car, some were for other cars, some were blank. Usually the dealerships clerical department would ask the clean-up/prep people to bring them the paperwork. They would file it by stock number and when the car was sold the customer would be given the Federal stuff like emissions, braking distance info, etc. No dealer that I ever knew of took the seats out and removed broadcast sheets but there were certainly several sheets in every car.

This could not have been a Mr. Norm's car, he only sold Dodge's. Never Plymouth.

Mr. Norm doesn't know, I am with him this weekend at Carlisle. The remaining dealer jackets with paperwork are with Larry Wiener at Performance West Media Group in California. Norm might have taken a Duster in on trade and dyno tuned it before selling it as a used car, but he would have no paperwork other than what came with the trade-in. Some of the jackets have broadcast sheets, but most do not as I have been through the remaining files.
