I can't seem to find alot of info on this but how much can you mill off the heads. I need to get our w2's cc'd but thinking they are either 70-72. Could they be taken down to in the 50's?

I doubt they could go that low without welding. From memory you will get down to the mid to low 60's, anymore the decks are too thin and you hit the valve seats. Angle milling would be better, but I can't speak from experience with that. Your heads were the early ones from memory, so they won't be as thick as some of the last model ones, well the 810 casting I had weren't anyway.

Yea just curious on where they could go. If I keep them where they are at I might be able to run pump gas with a 11.5:1/12:1 piston.

I didn't know they sold those! Would it be cheaper to buy one rather then to have machine shop check it? Could you cc pistons with this also?

Great idea buying one Brock but being as young as you are buy one a little better one. Heck your Friends will gladly throw you a few bucks over the years to have there stuff checked. I bought this one and I can't tell you how many times I've used it.

Another way to go cheap is to just use a piece of plexiglass and for a buret go to your local feed and seed and buy a large animal syringe which is very cheap. The syringe I have I believe holds 65cc so for the big items you will have to fill it again but the plunger is very positive and it works very well.

Yep... and it'll last longer... I had the glass buret
shown and it fell over when I bumped it.. broke
the valve off... you can buy plastic burets also...
my W-2s are right at 70cc... but I had to polish them
to get the balance on them and a truing cut .. stock
they ranged about 70 to 73 on the castings... I milled
one set down .060 which took it down to a closed
chamber ... I wouldnt go any farther.. I was starting
to worry about the deck thickness but its fine

Yes... grease the top ring and put the piston down 1/2"
and fill it... you can figure the volume on the 1/2"
times the bore and come up with X CCs for that area
then subtract you fill amount to get your number
