I can't help with the fiberglass hood spring question, but I can with the Dana 60 question.
Yes, all the cars that were sold new with a Dana 60 had "SureGrip". There were two different styles offered and the PowerLock was the strongest, but even it could be worn out. I have a 30 spline PowerLock carrier for 4.10 down gears that I was going to use in my '64 Polara until I found a Torsen Gleason worm drive and used it. This unit is now made by Eaton and does not require special fluid additives to prevent chatter around corners. They are completely transparent in operation and are the best answer today for traction.

On the springs iirc they used the same spring as steel hoods, hence the bow in the center.

Ehhhhh ....the Trans Am cars each had their own unique springs specific to each application,....the hoods bowed because they were improperly strengthened to handle a spring load in the closed position
If you want/need lightweight springs for your hood contact Unlimited Products, based on the weight of your hood they can recommend the proper application needed, go to www.up22.com

Not true on te OEM cars, they had smaller diameter springs that where still to stiff, hence the bowing at the front of the hinges OP, I used a cut off broom stick to hold the hood up on my Duster, made all the locals think this car can't be very fast or high tech. with a broom stick hoding the hood open It ran low tens at 134. MPH on pump gas through the muffs with the air cleaner on
