Just dug this out of a box in the basement. It is the leather-looking, padded horn button. If I recall correctly its from a 1970/71 Tuff wheel? Any other applications?

(I've been finding all sorts of interesting junk today during the spring cleaning - I'll be posting a list soon).

To be honest, I am pretty sure that was on a K car, or maybe a Mirada. Years ago I pulled a red tuff wheel with that cap in red off a K car. DEF not 71 tuff wheel cap.

That is a correct, original, black Tuff wheel cap and does appear to be the early '70-1 version.

The later, coloured ones have a more rounded profile and a 'baseball' stitch joining the sides to the center.

Thanks. It came off a '71 Tuff wheel that was in a 71 Hemi Charger I had way back when. At the time I put a brand new one on when they were still available. I if recall correctly the brand new wheel was $99 and the horn cap was $29. Those were the days!
:-)

that looks like the very rare 70/71 only type, took me a long time to find mine. the later ones are easy to spot and not correct for a 70/71.

2nd, from what i researched all be it no proof later in 71 it looks like they switched to the plastic type. Probably to save a couple bucks.
