Well I may be going thru with my plan of using my 7.50 certified Daytona chassis and going from a 96 inch wheelbase to a 108 inch Duster wheelbase. Also may end up 4-6 inches wider. My old 1972 340 duster was made available to me at a pretty fair price so I may be using that body on this project. The guy that upgraded my chassis from 8.50-7.50 recently retired and wants some side work. He is going to try to give me an estimate on Monday and hopefully I can sell off some parts to help fund the project. My 572 will be used but with B1 heads instead of the 440-1's. Hoping for some 8.0's-8.40's Here's my Duster many, many years ago.

Come on now Tony that was my Grungy look. We were Grungy Racing before it was the in thing to do. I still have all that hair but it moved to my ears, butt, chest, and back.
it's the ear thing that sucks!!
hope you see your project through and that you have fun with it!!

I think your making a BIG mistake trying to fit a G-body chassis to a A-body.. I think you would be better off selling the Daytona to pay for a new chassis ![](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wave.gif)

That's some GREAT news. Talk to you soon and thanks. We'll meet somewhere and I'll buy you lunch. We can talk about getting OLD.

After spending about an 1 1/2 hours taking measurements and seeing how close the height and width are between my Duster and Daytona are I really feel at ease going this route. He has built many local top sportsmen cars in the area including 3 for his wife. He had one question that he needed to address with our local NHRA chassis certifier. The cage itself is off less than 1 inch in height and width and 12 inches in wheelbase. He's working on it for a 20 dollar an hour rate which I think is more than fair. Body mounting is a non-issue according to him. I will know more early next week when he gives me an estimate.
I just finished up a moly chassis for a A body a few months ago... and I have a G-body here that I was going to do a chassis for so I do know the differences.. but thats just me... anyone want to buy a G-body (92 Daytona body)... its mostly gutted now.. has the ground effects also.. still on 4 wheels ![](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wave.gif)

I hear what you are saying Mike but remember this was not a Daytona made into a race car. it was a tube chassis with a modified mostly fiberglass body set on it. Not one thing is stock from the front to the rear. Never had floorboard, firewall, doors, front end, that the cage had to be measured or conformed to.

The chassis still had to fit the contours of the body... whether it had a floor or fire wall... but you do what you feel is the right thing for you ![](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wave.gif)
