I need to start somewhere and get talking to some people, in person. It's high time I do something to get my 340 short block put together.
What I need: Block and crank magnafluxed, just to be sure first. The block is already bored and honed 0.040 over and crank journals polished 0.010 under. I want the piston tops faced off to get zero deck (they are the Speed Pro L2316 pistons, that usually end up 0.018-0.020 above the deck) and crank I imagine will need balanced too.
Once this is done I'll have a cool conversation piece that I can start bolting things onto as I get 'em. But first...need to talk to a shop that I can be comfortable in dropping off my parts! So, any good suggestions? I'm near Youngstown Ohio and would prefer someone local or fairly local that I can drive to.
Thanks!

Try Nick at CompFlo.He is near Cleveland.A few members here have used him and have nothing but praise. That and he wont try and sell you what you dont need.If Jerry was open at Crank and Sleeve in Girard he is one of the best Ive used.Only thing was it takes him time. One man shop and he did it for at least 35 years.Mostly repeat business. There is a shop in Warren I believe its B&B or B&R.Across from the Hot Dog shop. The guy there is a Mopar guy.I havent used him but he is older and seems to know his stuff.Just got some 114 race gas there.Rocky

It's not exactly close to you, but I use Kammers in Dayton. Easily one of the top 5 'mopar happy' shops in the state.
But, when it comes to machining parts to a spec, it doesn't matter what brand the parts are, and any competent machine shop can do the work.
...but I certainly prefer someone who is familiar with what I'm building!
