Anyone going with ported Edelbrock Magnum heads for their 408? It would seem like the better chamber design would be worth a little bit of power.

Hughes has a nice rocker arm setup so that solves the one concern that I used to have. The heads can be drilled for LA or W2 intake manifolds so that solves the intake issue.

Anyone running ported Magnum heads with a Victor or W2 intake? I haven't seen any pictures yet but there must be a few guys with the combo.

Are you talking about hughes shaft rockers for magnum heads? Their website says they only fit cast iron heads....unless????

onebaddakota runs/ran a stroker eddy magnum setup quite effectively.

Dulcich tested one also.

Ported Eddy heads on my Magnum based 408. Runs 11.6 and change up here at 8000' DA.

The Hughes shaft rockers only work on Iron heads

Been running Hughes ported Iron Magnums on my 408 for a few years now. Hughes stud valve train, heads drilled to accept LA and Magnum bolt patterns. Also run a ported Vic 340 Jr. They have been great.

Brian (ou812) did my Eddie Magnums, I've been 10.16@131, and I've got a bit more left.

Having the heads drilled for the LA or W2 bolt pattern seems like a good idea. There aren't a lot of race intakes available for the Magnum bolt pattern.

I don't understand why the Hughes rocker arms won't work on the aluminum Magnum heads. Guess I'll have to give them a call to get the details. I assumed the bolt pattern was the same between the aluminum and iron heads. Must be something that is different.

I if remember correctly the eddy magnum heads are set-up for small-block chevy rockers,

probably has something to do with the eddy stud thread size vs the bolt thread size of the hold downs for their magnum rockers...some told me they would work with thread inserts in the magnum heads....

would like to know..i have nice size of ported magnums...

That is probably it. The aluminum heads use a 3/8 bolt size.

FBO has a pretty simple set up.. http://www.4secondsflat.com/FBO_EQ%20Cylinder%20heads.htm

EQ heads are the best.. in FBOs opinion http://www.4secondsflat.com/FBo_EQ%20Cylinder%20heads.htm

I think the original question was about Edelbrock Magnum heads ....and those wont fit either.
