This block has the hole in the block for the dipstick, not the pan like the trucks. I've installed a truck oil pan and would've used the 'car' dipstick, but it won't fit with the rear sump truck pan. I've got a truck dipstick, no problem, but my question is what to do with the hole in the block? I imagine with crank pressure a plug could blow out under high rpm? The opening in the block is relatively close to 1/8"NPT size. Would it be sacrilegious to drill and tap the hole or could it weaken the block? 76dodgeboy master Joined: Aug 2006 Posts: 8,064 Iowa	Trucks have the same hole its just plugged. You can use silicone, a small frost plug or hunk of brass, jb weld etc etc. Truck pan has the dipstick in the side of the pan

Thanks I did the same. The hole in the block is already 'drilled' out to 1/8"npt tap size, I didn't have to drill it, just run the tap in. Pretty easy.
