Measure from the trans mount pad to end of tailshaft on both trannies. To the best of my knowledge (and I could be wrong) all 727s are the same. I swapped a slant six /833od to a 440/ 727. Same crossmember, and driveshaft. The motor home units may be different. All I have ever dealt with is car/ pickup stuff . I will admit, the bb 727s look looong!

84 D150 440/727 79 /6 swb D150 1964 A100 window van. Just because it has spark plug tubes doesn't mean it's a Hemi.
If ya haven't been there, ya just wouldn't understand.

Also in my swb 84, at one time it had a 904 behind the /6. I stuck it in there while I went thru the 833od. No driveshaft, or crossmember mods. It was after I had put the 833 back in that I swapped to 440. Again. Measure. ![](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/popcrn.gif)

They have a short tail shaft 727 that was used in campers Clubcabs Crewcabs and Divorced Transfercase Powerwagons(pre 75)

Going off what you said there I think that all you need to do is have that driveshaft shorten a little and rebalanced and you should be good to go.

I have a drive shaft for a 904 in a 85 swb truck I have a driveshaft for a 727 in a swb truck I have a drive shaft with splined slip yoke for a 727 short shaft bolt on yoke. I have run them all. ![](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh2.gif) if the truck came with a 318/904..use the shift lever/TV lever from the 904 on the 727 for shifter linkage hook up. you may need to tweek the 904 TV linkage or find a 4-v 727 truck 1 piece TV linkage. the auto trans lines will fit from the 904 to 727. all you need to do is shorten the 904 swb drive shaft to fit the longer 727. the 727 will need a bigger 727/a8333/a833OG slip yoke. slide yoke in till it bottoms out on tailshaft, measure from center of u-joint cap to center of u-joint cap then subtract 1" for a perfect fit. the measurements can vary slightly when searching for a bolt in shaft, or if the truck has had cassis mods such as lowering/axle flips...they tend to shorten the shaft even more. check the size of flex plate from the 904 TC to the 727 TC before you get it bolted to the engine. they are the same for all engines, TC bolt spacing/size dictates which flex plate to use. best to mock the flex/TC together and mark with paint for ease of install later bolting it up. good luck ![](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbs.gif)

So it looks like I need to hit the junkyards in search of a swb 727 truck driveshaft... Easier said than done...
I have one that I had made for a 727, swb with an 8 3/4 rear. PM me if you still need one and might be interested.
