All: What are the correct finishes for an E-body rear sway bar and the associated brackets?

I have correct NOS end links, but the key items are:

- sway bar
- sway bar to frame brackets
- leaf spring to sway bar brackets

Thanks in advance

I believe they were all natural...unpainted. The bar would have been a little darker due to the manufacturing process. The sway bar being natural or painted black has been debated in the past.

Thanks

One other question - is there any way to swap the bar bushings without disassembling & re-welding the brackets?

I have a pair of NOS bushings, but want to keep an OE appearance for the assembly, so no bolts.

Rather than repost everything, heres a link to what I did in the past. Remember the bushings were never intended to be replaced but if you've managed to find correct replacements you'll be way ahead of where I started.

Good luck

The sway bars were originally developed for the T/A and AAR. It looks like those were definitely black. What about other models that got the bar.

T/A's and AAR's can be different then the other models....case in point, the leaf springs being black instead of bare.

My sway bar was heavily rusted but I saw no evidence of black paint.

Theres some speculation that after some date or perhaps different suppliers, some leafs were bare and some black. In my case black for sure.

As far as the sway bar and brackets, I've only seen black, but remember the paint was cheap and may not be apparent at first glance. That said I try to keep an open mind with MOPARs and never say always or never, generally may be the best term to use.

Were the bushings, brackets and bar assembled when painted?

The straps are welded to the frame bracket. If they were painted, I would assume they were assembled bare and them all sprayed or dipped as an assembly.
