I see MP has gaskets.

I also see FelPro.

And I also see Cometic.

What brand is best, and am I missing any other brand????

Have you had any problems with the 0.059" Felpro Gaskets on a 4.5" bore????

Thanks!!!

D

I have heard that composite gaskets like the felpros dont hold well on 4.5" bore applications because they leak in between cylinders. Comets hold up better....

Thats what I have HEARD.

it's funny when things like this happen. i think it's hard to argue that they are good gaskets, but are they worth the price? i don't know.

i go with them because the guy who i deal with for all my parts uses only them. i trust that, and simply don't want to mess with anything else.

but, they managed to build a reputation, and now you and i are paying for it!

well, i am anyway!!

I dont think they are all that much more expensive.

Regular felpros in 4.5" bore for my HEMI: 59 bucks each

Cometics: 78 bucks each

I ran SCE copper head gaskets on my Hemi. Never had any leakage issue whatsoever. I did have an o-ringed block and receiver grooves in the heads, though.

Use a gasket that the steam holes line up on. I used Cometics. Fel-Pros didn't line up and would have leaked.

it's ok to butt heads, just don't do it with a butthead

They are the small 3/16" holes [ 10 ] on the lower head surface of each side of the block. The holes have to be the same on the heads also. I had to drill my World Products 4.5 bore block to match . Mine didn't have any at all.

I have run both without any problem other than operator error caused by my head being to far up my rectum. I pushed out a Felpro on the dyno, cause, insufficent octane.
I run the Cometics now just because I can reuse them.Dave

That's how we run them(o-ring and reciever grooves) but some of the manufactures say you can run theirs without.
