We were on our way home from Myrtle Beach today, and my AC froze up. Apparently from what little research I've done, a plastic door in the heater box breaks and blocks airflow, making it freeze up. Anybody else had one do this, and used the thing called "The Heater Treater' to fix it? You can supposedly do it by taking the glovebox out and going into the heater box without even taking it out? The AC works ok when it's set on regular, but naturally doesn't cool as well as it would on recirculate. It didn't help matters any that we had to go from one end of SC to the other, and it was hotter'n the hinges of hell today! Any help or ideas appreciated.

What truck? Don't think you can on a 97-04 Dakota, pretty sure the glove box is molded into the dash as one assembly

I did on my 2004 2500.. My biggest problem was no A/C on passenger side of cab. I don't remember for sure but I'm thinking I repaired two of my blend air doors.. If its just the fresh air/ recirculate door you can remove the blower motor and prop the door shut but you wont have the fresh air option(I never use that in Texas).. To repair the other doors you have to cut holes in the heater box, repair the doors then tape up the holes you cut out.. Not all that difficult but just hated to start whacking on my truck but it sure beat draining the entire system just to fix the doors.. In short it is a pretty cheap and effective way to repair the blend air doors.. The metal ones in the kit are sure to last the life of the truck...Good luck..

Thanks. There is a new part from Mopar for $18-20 that replaces one of the busted doors. Maybe I will get lucky and that's it.

Tom....it's an 04 2500 quad cab diesel.
