Is there a seal that goes under the trim ring on a Challenger flip top gas cap? I just put one on my Challenger and there seems to be 1/8 inch of movement between the quarter panel and trim ring.

There is no seal. The trim ring lays directly on to the 1/4 panel sheet metal. Do you have a repro 1/4?

If so, sounds like the gas cap opening on the 1/4 may not be shaped properly. The repro 1/4's are notorious for that.

The car has the original quarters and it is a NOS gas cap. Looks like I will take it back off and see what's going on.

Is the trim ring a repop or original? I got a little play in mine and the trim piece was the only non original part.

A big THANKS to Mike at BE&A...he told me how to correct the trim ring problem. The inner piece of the trim ring where the cut outs are for the screw slots from the flip top cap, bend the corners upward. This will apply pleasure to the trim ring from the flip top and make the trim ring sit flush to the quarter panel and not move.

Hey Martin,

It's painted and parts are going back on it. The last major hurdle is I need a good machine shop to finish the motor. I actually need to talk to you about that as I need a recommendation.
