sounds true-I have looked for pics of a '65 with redlines and could barely find any!

When you say "period correct," do you mean what it would have had new? Or what an owner might have put on it when the OEM bias-ply tires wore out in 10-12,000 miles?

to me-period correct means what would have been on it from '65 to '69.
You could say after the first set of tires wore out-redlines would have been high on the list of replacements-as would blue lines.

Having lived through that period, I would say you almost never saw blue lines, OEM or aftermarket. Right off hand, I can't think of any auto company other than Chrysler that ever offered them, or any tire company other than Goodyear that ever made them, but they just weren't common at all.
Red lines on the other hand were real popular for maybe three-four years on just about every brand of performance car, and most every brand of tire offered their version, so it wasn't uncommon to see an earlier car retrofitted with them. But when raised white letter tires became fashionable on performance cars, the red lines pretty much disappeared until the muscle car collector car market got big enough that companies like Coker started offering them again.
