Have to matching outboard six pack carbs with date code 2278. As i understand how to read them, that would indicate aug 14 1968...I didnt think they had even started producing things for the A12 cars that early? Can someone elighten me please?

Sounds like you might have a set produced in '78 or '88. Too early for an A12 if produced in '68.
Is the list number the right one?

Those are 78, or 88 , or 98 , I doubt you'll find 69 Id numbers but later numbers
