Is there such a thing produced? Using a Summit SFI damper and I'm not a fan of using the marks on the timing cover.

I'm not sure but an option would be to check/find exact TDC then make your own marks as needed by measuring a strip of paper & using it as a ruler to make em CW around the circumference from the TDC slit. 0.0632683" is (1) degree. I make marks at 10-15-20-35 & that's plenty as it's easy to gauge when you're halfway between 15 and 20 for instance. Use white paint. 2&1/4 (2.246") is 35.5 degrees total

The issue isnt the markings, its that the markings are on the opposite side of the damper. Thinking of modifying a small block chevrolet one to work.

What about swapping the late timing cover for an early one or vice versa. It'd put the marks on the opposite side & give you a cleaner look (just a suggestion)

Why not just buy a timing tape?

Yall arent understanding what I'm saying here. On a typical setup, the timing cover has marks on it and the damper has corresponding marks on it (marks towards the timing cover).

This damper I have has the timing marks on the opposite edge(damper bolt side). Yes I could scribe lines across the damper, but I would like to use a pointer similiar to a SBC which hangs over the damper.

I would go this route.

56 Plaza 63 D100 step side 67 Coronet, 68 Roadrunner, 69 Super Bees, 69 Coronet 500 convertible, 70 Roadrunner Post, 79 D150 360, and a severe case of Mopar a,d,d

You have mixture of early and late timing cover and dampner. if the cover has the marks on the right side and the timing marks are on the right side, get a newer cover. If the oposite is true then you need an early SB timing cover. A short cut is the fastest way to where you do not want to go!!

The damper was an aftermarket and would not clear the cast in timing marks so I used a early model cover that has no timing marks and fabbed the pointer.

I think what the OP is saying is that the tmg marks on the damper are towards the front face of the damper and don't extend to the rear where the cast in mark are on the cover, it's not a right/left thing

Gary

Exactly. Going to make one out of a SBC version.
