Picked up a set of 15x6 Cragar SS Rims this weekend that a guy said he bought around 1966-67, very cool set. Problem is the guy thought he was making them "better" by sand blasting them. Has anybody tried to rechrome a vintage set of Cragar's before? Thinking about either powdercoating them chrome or do a custom paint job like black around the edge and clear the middle aluminum. Here is a picture of them.

Also does anybody know a source for just the retainers on the caps? It has all the caps but think it should have the round disc on the back holding them on. They are only compression fit now and don't think that is going to fly.

As for rechroming... standard rechrome shop can do it. About $200 per wheel.
About $200 per wheel? Have you had anything rechromed lately? Gotta be more than that these dayz.

I could be wrong but I, too, believe that the rims and the aluminum centers were originally polished and chromed separately and then the centers were welded into the rims.
