Hi all,

Can someone tell me where the cork gasket (on the right side in the pic below) goes? It is part of a gasket kit, Sealed Power #2601004. Someone on the slantsix board thought it might be the oil filler cap gasket, but mine (1967, 225 cu.in.) doesn't use one. I'd appreciate any suggestions, thanks!

Roger

I've rebuilt and/or worked on a ton of Slants from all years. I've never had to use one.

It crossed my mind that it could be for the road draft tube on an older one but it's very thick. No can answer.

Kinda looks like the piece that goes on the big bolt used in the 90 degree oil filter adapter on a small block. A lot of those gasket kits are generic with a few extras for other applications.

Oh yeah, it's a hybrid.....it burns gas and tires!

Thanks for all the replies, everyone. My brother-in-law, an old Mopar hand from way back, also thought it might go on the downdraft tube for '60-'61 models. Either that or possibly for an early model distributor, before they used "O" rings. In any case, nobody seems to know for sure, which likely (hopefully?) means it's not used on my engine and I don't need it at all.

yeah gaskets always have extra's for wider applications & to satisfy our curiosity you could solve this the old fashioned way & call sealed power. It had to go SOMEWHERE on a /6 unless someone on the assembly line just threw it in by mistake. After all this, inquiring minds want to know.

Yeah, I looked up their contact info yesterday and it sounds like they don't want to deal with any inquiries from Joe Public:

Federal Mogul's contact info

I may give them a call anyway. If I find out anything, I'll post here. Thanks again.
