I have a few oil pans that a buddy gave me. I have 2 "402" pans, an "899" and another that I can't recall the number. I was wondering if someone knew the rated quart capacity of the pans that I numbered.
Also, at which point on the pan is the oil level? How far below the gasket/pan rail ?
Thanks, Jeff

I believe 4 qt sump on both. 4 qts would bring it to the top of the sump which'd be where you'd want to add a perimeter flat horizontle baffle several inches wide. pour in a gallon of water which would be easy to do & would tell you exactly.

Mopar use to recommend over filling, by one quart, any of the B/RB,426 Street Hemi motors that where using or added thier windage tray I have check the oil levels in several stock oil pans like the 402 with the tiiming cover removed with the engines on a engine stand, I have also checked them on a bench off the motors. I don't have a problem at all on adding one extra quart to most of the stock oil pans, except the pre 1965 standard B/RB oil pans, especially with a windage tray My reasoning on that is the amount of oil held in suspension up in the motor when it is running Cold oil returns much slower to the pan than hot oil does

Mr.Cab Racing and winning with Mopars since 1964. (Old F--t, Huh)
