When hooking up vacuum advance to a ported source. When will/should the full amount of vacuum advance be in? Should it go all in right after the throttle blades open a little? And stay in until full throttle? Thanks

depends on how you have your distrib set-up. You should set your initial advance and full with the vac advance un-hooked. Usually 15-18 intitail and 36* total seem to be a good starting pont. For you big car have full advance in early, like 2200rpm.

All depends on the vacuum level the eng is producing & whether you open the throttle gradually or WOT (what the can sees) & with the 3/32" allen wrench what you have a particular cans' tip in point (in hg) set to. Are you haveing a specific problem with your setup?

I just put it my new distributor set up by FBO for my combo. I set the initial at 18 and with mechanical all in at 3200 rpm. It's a total of 34 degrees. (FBO recommended) I didn't have time to hook up vacuum advance when I was back home last time. So I was just trying to see where it should be at when I hook it up. If I remember right it is set for another 14 degrees with the vacuum advance hooked up. (the sheet is at home) Manifold vacuum was right at 10 at idle. Thanks

Can I just say 3200 seems high to me for total. If you are going to cruise at 3200 then all in by then should be ok, but I bet your cruising at 2600-2700. I would think you want it all in by then.

Any hoot, I have my can at 3 turn out CCW from being closed. More turns out makes it harder for vacuume to advance it. What did was hook it to manifold vacumme to fiddle with the screw to see where it stoped working (advancing). Mine stoped advancing at 5 turns out at idle. So I turned it back in 2 as a starting point and left it.

Someone may have a better method--
