is there a way to repair cracks in the dashboard of a 73 charger so the end result is a uniform newish looking dash?

1973 Dodge Charger SE 400 automatic transmission. Curb weight: 3800 lbs. All stock so far. Goal: Reliable everday driveable warmed up 400 as close to 400hp as possible, then a 470 stroker if need be. Don't protect a feminist when the collapse comes!

No. Your three options are to get a new pad, get a cover for the pad, or live with the cracks.

This is pretty much correct. I would just like to add that I wouldn't waste money on a cap (covers old dash) as they look cheesey and you won't be happy. Save the money and get the pad to replace the cracked dash. If you get them on sale, you may be able to get one for around $450 or so.

It is possible to swap this out with the dash in and the steering column dropped but I would recommend you wait until you are ready to go through the dash and just pull the whole thing. It becomes much easier to do this way on the bench instead of contorted under the dash with it in the car.

Yeah the cap looks ghetto. Do you mean something like this?
