What was the sheen on the lower body color (black) on the 1969 GTX? Was it a gloss, satin, or flat black? Also, our GTX is coded for a white stripe, where would this white stripe have gone? We currently have a red pin stripe just below the body line in the black area on the body. We also have red line tires on the car too if that matters.

Like the hood, the lower panel area would have had black organisol which is highly textured. the stripe is approximately 5/8" below the lower belt molding. I will try to get the exact measurement to you later.

wouldn't the highly textured organisol prevent the pin stripe decal from sticking properly though?

The thread "Organosol the Bulletin" has the Chrysler bulletin/info for painting those areas of the car that would include the GTX lower black.

I think (personal opinion) the finish referred to as "egg shell" is more correct for the GTX bottom or a finish that you can put a decal or stripe on.

Look close at this (and not at the incorrect red closed grilles ) and you might be able to see that it looks like the shell of an egg, smooth but not really smooth

My GTX has NOS white stripes on it that Bill aka gtx6970 gave me and they were well over 30+ years old and they stuck fine on the finish I have.

Bill thanks again

Use a quality 3m tape and it'll stick just fine
