I would like to enlist your help to see if I could find the listed car. I purchased it in 1972 from Thayer Dodge in Clearwater, FL. The car had just over 12000 miles on it and was a special order for the son of the Dealership. It did not have the raised hood but had Swinger type scoops on a matte black hood with factory hood pins. It had a black vinyl roof, black interior, A/C and P/S. American Racing wheels and white traction bars (I installed them). I sold it in the late 70's for about $1500.00 to a teenager. After that I found that a mechanic from the Dodge dealer on N. Dalemabry and Columbus dr. across from the Tampa Stadium bought it. I lost track of it after that.

Good luck with the search!! A VIN# would help. JH23H1B......??

Looks like a played with car from the start, it was probably a non-R/T (no 1/4 louvers) - with a black hood replacing the original because someone wanted a "scoop".

Is that FY1 "top banana" or GY3 "citron yella"??

I believe it is the GY3 as the car would sometimes look to have a greenish tint, usually at night. I am searching some old sites that might have the vin number.....javascript:void(0)

In 1971 only you could get a 340 in a R/T. Looks like it was a 340 Rally car maybe or could have been a 318 car who knows without the vin. Good luck on it. I like the 70's era mods.

They had the following 340 Challengers for 71:

JS23H1B - Challenger R/T hardtop with a 340 (will have the scoops on the quarters)
JH23H1B - Base Challenger hardtop with a 340
JH27H1B - Base Challenger convertible with a 340

1970 Dodge Challenger T/A
