Does anyone have any pictures of what a lynch road built 71 rt should look like in the trunk and other spots it was inspected and marked? Does the trunk say C 71? Also is there a certain color as I have seen them in black, yellow and white. Was it just what they had in hand? I am going for as close to original as I can so if anyone has any info please let me know. Thanks

The original tire sizing was usually scribbled on the upper right side of the deck lid. I have documented yellow, black and white and it appears to be done with an oil based marking stick. I've also noticed that the car's color might be what made the difference in what color marking was applied. I have many photos of original markings from various 71 Chargers in different colors with different tire sizes. Let me know what color your car was and the approximate build date. I might have a photo of a similar car. I've never found any other markings in the trunk area.

It was a Feb build date and it was red. No bs with the car so not sure what tire size it was originally but it had 14 inch ralley rims on it which looked original

Since yours is an R/T model and you believe it may have originally been equipped with 14 inch wheels, it might have originally had any of these 3 markings. The first photo is an early (August) built 71 R/T and is the one and only photo I have of the G 70 B series marking. I've seen many 71 Charger R/T's with G 70 14 polyglas tires but only this one with this size marking under the deck lid.

And to make things a little more confusing, this last one I have is from my old October Built 71 R/T. B G78. That car was a Super Track Pak 4 Speed car and came from the factory with T46 G78 14 Dual 3/8 White Sidewall tires on it. What a joke! What we need to find is a couple of Lynch Road R/T's with 14's a little closer to your built date to get a better idea. Just a note: all three of these R/T's are Lynch Road cars and as far as the color of the marking on red cars, I've seen all three... Black, White and Yellow. Hope some of this helps a little.

I have a early 71 bee built on August 8th 1970, 14 inch rally's and FC7 I would have similar questions and would have to think that the superBee would have the same markings as an R/T. I do have to ask though what does the B, and W stand for? I also have a green Bee built on 6-30-1971 with the corny white walls would this have the same markings? Thanks

What I think might be different on a Superbee is that they usually came with F70 14 tires standard instead of G70's. I'm gonna say that W would indicate the car line (Dodge), and the B would most likely stood for B-Body. Not sure why the lines workers randomly wrote W or B before the tire size. Your guess is as good as mine on that one. Is your (extremely) late built Green bee coded on a buildsheet T46 for the Dual White Stripe Tires? Another interesting note on my old B-5 Blue R/T, it was coded 74 on the buildsheet for 14X5.5 Magnum Road Wheels instead of the usual wider 14X6 ones. Must have needed the skinnier rims for the G78 series tires.

Oh, and the reason the G70 14 Polyglas tires I installed look a little tougher in the photo above is because they're mounted on the original 14X5.5 rims. I always liked the way the wheel and tire combo looked on that car and no-one ever noticed they were the skinny rims.

The original owner hated the Dual White Stripe Skinnys too, so he had these G70's installed when the car was brand new. The Dual White Stripe jobs are not what he ordered. I have a color copy of the original order form that he sat down and filled out with the salesman in 1970.

It's a dry heat
W = white sidewall tires ( or RWL )
B = black sidewall tires
R = red sidewall tires ( where applicable)

That definately sounds logical but then my old B-5 Blue 71 should have said W instead of B on the decklid. Right? It was ordered with and arrived with dual white sidewall tires. When I talked with the original owner and recieved the paperwork for the car, he laughed and remembered it showing up with the wrong whitewalls he ordered. Then he asked the dealer to switch them to G70 RWL Polyglas immediately because it looked silly. It was ordered in August built on October 19th and invoiced on October 27,1970 and the color photo above was taken only a short time later with very few miles on it. (I have 12 more photos of it...it's actually smashed on the other side. The photos were for taken for insurance purposes). Either way, my guess is it was probably an oversight when the letter B was written on the decklid during assembly.

I will have to check the build sheet but I can tell you that I was told that the original spare is with the car and it is a dual white wall. I will check the buid sheet and get back to you. As much as I dislike it I will have to leave the wheel covers and the white walls if it was built that way. It is rare enough as is. It is a numbeers matching six pack car to boot!

B / G 60 15 on one of my R/T s lynch road 4/71 build date. Has anyone ever had one with the sure grip sticker on the deck lid? The R/T is a auto with 3.23 my other two 71s both Dana cars don't have the sticker and are Lynch road cars also.
