Decided to stick with a 727 rather than go with a 'glide in my Dart, but I need to know what parts I will need. I'm definitely going to put a T-Brake in it, so what's the best reverse manual VB for this? I've heard Griner? Im on a budget, but i want a reliable unit, so what else will I need to do to make it live for a long time behind a 450-500hp small block? Thanks in advance for the help.

That's basically what I did, and John put a package together for me. At that HP level, you won't need to do much. From what I can remember, I went with a steel drum, bolt in sprag, another disc in the hi gear clutch pack, kolene steels, Kevlar bands )and a spring change, 4.2 lever. Already had a TCI valve body, so I just used it over - no internal brake. Got about 3 years on it with no problems.

I have had the same 727 in my S/ST car for 5 years and then in my S/G car for 10 years. 1500 runs plus. Nothing special it is stock other than a aluminum drum for safety and a older griner brake.I used to take it apart every year but stopped because it was a waste of time the clutches would still have the stamped #'s on them. Changed the fluid maybe yearly because the aluminum drum turns the fluid gray.

450-500 hp that's nothing for a 727

Stock rebuild parts, good sprag, a front drum is smart, LBA VB is another decent inverstment

I don't have much good advice, but I did pull a 727 out of a junkyard powerwagon, throw in a manual valvebody, behind a 500+ hp smallblock lasted for years and still worked fine when I sold it. Ran 11 ohs.
