I picked up a barracuda shell about 10 years ago with the intent to build the car from the ground up (kids came along and halted the project). When I say shell I mean shell in every sense of the word. There is nothing other than the spot welded panels. My intent was to build a 70 Cuda from it. It has occurred to me though that this could possibly be a 71. I had a beyond repair doner car (1970) that I bought for the #'s. I've now decided that I want to be true to the shell. How can I tell?

Lots of details but the quickest way is the E brake cable mount at the rear axle area... 70 both cables pass through a bracket on the left rear frame rail... 71 & up has a bracket for one cable on each rear frame rail...

Just look at the rad support or the cowl numbers . That will tell you the model year, assembly plant and last 6 digits of the cars VIN .
A bit of a warning ,however, most people frown upon the idea of swapping a VIN from another car on to this body .

Thanks for the info guys. Checked it out. Unfortunately for me it's a 71. So, I have a perfect rust free shell of a car that I don't want. Figures. Guess I'll keep my eyes peeled for a 70. Maybe I can trade someone.
