Can anyone post pics or give me measurements for door gaps. Mine appear to be tight at the quarter panel large at the rocker and what I would consider normal at the fender. I have seen some pics and this seems to be the norm. Just would like to have some other opinions. Thanks Larry J

building my 68 GTX as we speak.......about 1/4 inch front and back, no less ......... door to rocker are usually wider, but this is dictated by the top of the door lining up with the top of the quarter and fender...... mock everything up together; hood, fenders, doors, all of it.... it really only fits one way; and the gaps will be what they will be.......

obviously, you want the door centered in the opening.......the hood and cowl will dictate how far forward the fenders sit

no problem........and oh, start with a good/new set of door hinges, no saggers............ line up doors with the strikers REMOVED....... upon final assembly, adjust the striker to the door; don't allow the striker to "support" the door or pull it into position

I used heavy 3/16ths gap front and back of the door on mine, the rocker panel gap is much bigger and a result of the top of the door to quarter panel line up, doors vary !

Larry, keep in mind a fully assembled door will weigh more than the shell. We set the gaps and other adjustments on my Super Bee with an empty door, only to find later that many of the adjustments were way off once the door was fully assembled. If you can, weigh down the door as if it was fully put together prior to seting up the strikers, gaps and so forth.

Never would have thought about weighing the door down. We installed new hinges. We noted the gaps when we disassembled the car. Thanks again for the great input!!!! Larry J out!!!!!!!

You don't want the gaps too tight because once painted, that gap gets smaller and could get chipped.
