Anna is 4 now and about to graduate to a booster seat so her Simpson seat strapped into the middle of the back seat isn't going to work and with no shoulder belts in the back, how have you guys used booster seats?

Also, Levi is 7 months old, so I need to be able to mount his rear facing seat in the Fury as well. There _might_ be enough room to mount him in the middle and Anna on the side, but both on their own sides would be better. To do that I need some kind of LATCH setup or at least something other than the factory setup. Maybe I just need to install extra middle 'cinch' belts on the sides as well?

Other ideas?

With no shoulder harness in the back seat, why the hurry to switch to a booster seat? My 4-year-old still fits in his car seat, and it's a hell of a lot safer than a booster with no shoulder strap. He'll be in that (with ALL of my cars) till he just won't fit anymore.

I AM curious to know if anyone has any ideas on how to mount a car seat more securely than just the lap belt, though.

Yes. The issue is my daughter is in the 90's percentile for both height and weight for her age and she's simply outgrowing the belts! Now that we don't have to have winter coats on finally I have a little more room.

BUT - I only know how to get 1 car seat in the back - in the middle. I'd like to have a way to have Anna's forward facing seat in there plus the baby bucket for Levi.

at some point due to weight, even car seats are recommended to use the seatbelts, so I think it must be good enough.

I had looked at this for a while, but having a convertible, makes it even more challenging.

I don't think there is a good answer for this however.

ya, I've never seen a retrofit kit for shoulder belts in the back, but that's what we need. Would have to install the retractor on the package tray and reinforce it somehow...

that I did look into.
if you check out the 97-2000 ish sebring convertibles, you can pull it from there.

and the plates they use to re-enforce it.

but wasn't sure if there was even a place to mount it in a convertible.

bumping this to the top as I still need to do this, not being able to take both kiddos along for the ride is really limiting the times I can drive the Fury these days. Anyone install modern rear shoulder belts in their car?

Starts off slow, but a pretty nice solution.

some decent stuff in there. Anyone know if any of those solutions are with retractors that do the OEM function of being able to pull them all the way out and then have them sinch-lock? This is for using forward facing seats without having to use that webbing lock piece that comes with car seats. My boy won't be in a booster for another year or so.

this link explains what I mean:
http://wescoperformance.stores.yahoo.net/alr-replacement-seat-belts.html#top

Ideally I want a 3pt for the back that is both ELR & ALR like OEM (since 2001 I think), but that company doesn't make any like that.

Weren't people hauling kids around in baby seats and booster seats long before rear seat shoulder straps were around?

Heck, I rode in the back of our '52 Buick with no belts at all, parents in the front seat had no belts either.

BUT, we know better now.

That's the reason, on top of which there are those pesky laws...........
