When I close my 69 GTX's driver's side door with the window down, it rattles. Window up, no rattle. I've taken the door panel off twice and everything is nice and tight. Any suggestions?

I'm assuming with the panel off & the window down there didn't appear to be anything loose/rattling?

Does that model have the little metal tangs with felt on them to keep the glass from rattling when down? (when it is rolled up, the window fuzzies sort of hold them)

i have that same car except for a vynal top and it does exactly the same thing.i actually get it to stop and then after awhile it starts again.if you take the palm of your hand and bang on the door frame from the inside you can find the rattle.

I know but I'd like to fix it.

There is a rod that runs from the door handle to the latch assembly on the side. The factory had a fiber sleeve which wapped around the rod to prevent it from rattling, after many years they get worn or are missing, I had it happen on 2 of my cars

The rattle seems to be coming from the upper centre front of the door. Does not rattle with the window down.

You have to find out exactly whats rattling before you can fix it.use the palm of your hand or a robber mallet to make it rattle then take somthing like a paint paddle (if you cant get your hand in there)and push on things while you pound on the door.when you can stop the rattle then you can address the solution.
