Went out to the Norwalk spring warm-up and experimented with some 6 inch M&H volkswagen street-strip tires. Was good to see some Mopar friends out there. Best pass - 11.08 at close to 122

Several weeks ago I ran an 11.000 (didn't know whether to laugh or cry since I had about 7 or 8 lbs of unneeded weight in the car... a couple towels, and a few tools). Just one pound would have made the difference (shouldnt have eaten any ice cream either). Followed that up a week later with an 11.05. On the bright side, I could probably spend the rest of my life trying to run an 11.000 and never do it again. We had a good chance to get a 10 sec pass last night in some great weather but made a stupid mistake. Forgot to connect the vacuum line to the choke pulloff after doing some carb work. Spent some of the few precious passes trying to correct the resulting dismal 60 times. I am still running all the original drum brakes and a factory rear leaf spring setup on the car. I did buy a Wilwood front kit last year but the car is so original, I hate to alter it much. Maybe we will see another killer air T&T day this spring but the odds are against it.

Those Wilwoods took 37 lbs off my Dart. That is 37 lbs of unsprung weight, some of it rotating. (10.900?)On top of that, you could have the original parts in excellent shape, ready in case there was ever a need to reinstall. The stopping power over my drums was like night and day.
