I was convinced by the numbers that braille listed for their battery s that they would provide me with what I needed. I went on Ebay and after reading some feedback of buyers I am not so sure. One guy claims they are repackaged Deka batterys, with a higher price. He also did not think they performed up to the advertised numbers. That makes sense because they claim more reserve in a much lighter battery. I think I am going with an Odyssey, the one that weighs about 26 lbs. That is about the least amount of reserve I am willing to put up with, because I race with no alternator. I don't go rounds, and I run mechanical injection and alky. I don't go rounds without charging though. If you have an alternator and only run in warm weather, a battery that is as light as 26 lbs will do the job IMHO. Common sense tells me that no company has a big edge weight wise as far as reserve or cranking amps, so I am going to pick my battery based on positive feedback and the numbers I need for my app.

I have tried doing some research on batteries, and after talking with Racers calling places that make the batteries talking to their Techs.I have found it was a waste of time.To my surprise I have yet to find a fellow racer that really knows anymore than me about batteries which is nothing.I have yet to talk to a Tech. that would give me a straight answer as how to compare battery-battery,they each rate their battery in a different way which is always better than the others .
So after spending all that time I'm right back where I started,I just pick me out one in the Book/Store and buy it.

I'm giving the 17 lb Braille battery a shot at it. I've only had it in the truck for the last 3 or 4 months and it's worked great. This is on a street vehicle with a functioning alternator - so no comparison to the needs for a deep-cycle when going rounds without an alternator. But so far - so good. It's maintaining a 13.6 volt charge and really wings my 9.3:1 360 over. The true test will be after it's been in there for a year or two. I'll be sure and post up in the future if it has issues. I know lots of people are curious about running such a small battery.

And no, that is NOT a giant-sized MSD box. LOL

I been thinking about going the same route since I'm only running a 8.8:1 CR on my blower motor.

The one Im looking at is the 21 Pound 1300 cranking amps one. Im at 10:1, run a alternator and only driven in warm weather so I think I will try one and see what happens. Thanks for all the feedback.

Even the small braille ought to crank over a motor enough to get it going, so the comment about how long it will last caught my attention. On a street car in a very warm climate, It might work just fine. Looking forward to hearing back from you guys down the road.

It would be a 45 # saving on my car but at over 12.5.1 comp, i'm just wondering about hot starts. I do run a poweful [Edited by Moparts - Family Friendly Site - Keep it clean] alternater though.

21 pounder in my quarter pounder street car. Alternator and all and no complaints.
In colder weather just make sure to have the correct braile battery tender connected to it to keep the charge or else it will fade away like mine did after 5 months of not starting it. My bad. I recharged it with the special AMG charger and its back to normal.
Starts my 12-5 compression Big block with no hassles.
