Hello everyone, I have a '71 Charger with an 8 3/4 rear. It has a 489 case sure grip third member in it.
I picked up some 15x10 rims with only 3.5" of backspace that I want to put on it, and I have a lead on a rear end housing out of a '69 charger that is 3" narrower than the '71 housing that I have, so the rear tires wouldnt stick out like Joe Dirt.
My question is, besides relocating the spring perches, how difficult would it be to swap the two housings? I ran a search and didnt come up with anything, so I was hoping someone had done this before.
Thanks in advance!!

I'd start with carefull measureing to see if 1.5" per side change plus the backspace change will clear the springs on the inside & the fender on the outside. ie a p225 tire the 225 is the sidewall bulge to sidewall bulge width in millimeters. divide 25.4 into that to get it in SAE (inches) & that dimention may help you in your clearance checks

I'm confident that the wheel and tire will clear the springs and the fenders, I was wondering more along the lines of whether or not the brake drums and lines should interchange or if there are any other unforseeable complications I should think about.
Thanks!
