Can anyone tell me what the correct locations are for the "road runner" door badge and bird decal on a '68 Road Runner?

I've got a Satellite and I have a pair of badges and decals and thought I would put them on and see how it looks. How do you access the speed nuts on the back of the badges without pulling the door panel?

Thanks in advance.

Here are some previous photos that were posted on Moparts,

you have to remove the inner panel to access the nuts.

Thanks guys. I did a search but I didn't find anything, not sure why.

Dobie,

You're Road Runner is the same color as my Satellite. Cool to see what it will look like with the badges and decals.

Very cool. The original color was TT1. I really liked the F5 better, so I went with that. Not correct, but close enough for me. I like it.

Greg, thanks for posting those photos. I couldn't find those photos for the life of me. That's my '68 rr before the resto. Glad I did those measurements as the body guy filled in a few holes

That's pretty cool, I didn't know they interchanged. And I love the black.

The only difference between the '68 - '70 Coronet, road runner doors (externally) is the '68 door lock button position which is toward the rear versus the more mid-door on the '69/'70

A12,
Thanks for posting those original photos. I have some others but yours had the critial dimensions.

I found those doors on Moparts several years back and Rhinodart hauled them from PA? for me,and delivered to my door. they are complety rust free.
Some coronet models have a few extra holes in them, that require some work to weld closed..
Coupe and Hardtop doors have some different parts in them but they will swap over.
And as A12 pointed out 68 doors have different lock button position as well as glass and some hardware and holes compared to 69/70.

The other number you are looking for is the gap between the emblem and decal - 9/16" seems to be the one agreed by most. There has been some variation seen about how high the decal is in relation and most agree that the middle toe goes more or less even with the bottom of the emblem. Your results may vary... I can't recall ever seeing the factory drawing for this - maybe someone has it???

You can take another road runner emblem and put it between the road runner's foot and the end of the emblem in the photo above and posted here of an original decal and emblem. see the # looking lines for reference: (basically I used that photo and made a square with the lines to show the distance was the same as about the width of the emblem..there I really made that clear as mud )
